US ambassador in Bangladesh Marcia Bernicat has said Bangladesh is a great example of religious harmony and peaceful co-existence.The US envoy said this at a program of Buddhists at Uttara in the capital yesterday. Bangladesh Buddhist Association organized the function at a newly-built monastery.
Buddhist monks from Chittagong addressed the function. Marcia Bernicat thanked the government of Bangladesh for maintaining a free environment for people of all religions. “It is a great example in the world that people of different religions live here in peace. Though Islam is the state religion of Bangladesh, it is a secular country. All live in this country with dignity,” she also said.
