New platform of women entrepreneurs launched

A new network of women entrepreneurs named Women Entrepreneurs Network for Development Association (WEND) kicked off on Thursday in a bid to empowering the women investors.

Dr Nadia Binte Amin, President of the WEND said that team building is necessary for overall development of the women entrepreneurs.

She explained details of the mission and vision of the new network at a press conference in the city on Wednesday, said a press release.

The organisation has obtained government permission and membership of the Federation of Bangladesh Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FBCCI).

It is the fourth body that obtained trade licence, Dr Nadia said in the conference.

“The network will support and promote all of the women entrepreneurs across the country,” she added.

It would also provide theoretical and technological support and assistance in getting trade licence, E-TIN (taxpayers identification number) and Value Added Tax (VAT) registration, she also added.

Initially, the WEND has started its activities in eight divisions of the country. Some eight women entrepreneurs are monitoring the same number of ‘one stop crisis centre’ one each in all divisions.

WEND has a stall for showcasing and selling products of the women entrepreneurs in the Dhaka International Trade Fair.

Also, WEND has extended its support to the Rohingya refugees.
