Extreme poor people at Sariakandi attain solvency by rearing cattle head

Thousands of extremely poor people living in the char areas of Sariakandi upazila under the district have attained solvency by rearing cattle head commercially.
District livestock services department said many farmers have started small cattle farms and earning a good amount of money.
Aminur Rahman of Shalikha village said he started a cattle farm with five cows. He said the farm has improved his socio-economic condition.
Another farmer Rashidul Islam said he rears cattleheads for selling in the Eid-ul-Azha market. He urged the authority concerned to arrange short-term and easy loan facility for the rearers for flourishment of the sector.
District Livestock officer Shahiduzzaman said, “Commercial cattle rearing is playing an important role in reducing poverty in the region. “He focuses on more participation from women folk for development of the farm business.”
