Experts said the growing poultry sector has been largely contributing in poverty alleviation and meeting nutritional demand of the population side by side bringing self-reliance to the rural people, reports BSS.
They put importance on providing training, technology and assistance to the poultry bird farm owners and common people for accelerating growth of the prospective sector to strengthen national economy.
The opinion came at the daylong workshop on ‘Problems in the Poultry Sector and Way-out’ organised by Rangpur Poultry Industry Owners’ Association (RPIOA) at conference room of the Department of Livestock Services (DLS) in the city on Sunday.
Rangpur Divisional Deputy Director of the DLS Agriculturist Mahbubur Rahman attended the workshop as the chief guest with President of RPIOA Akbar Hossain in the chair.
District Livestock Officer Dr Mahbub Alam, Assistant Director of the Government Poultry Farm for Rangpur Dr Jitendra Nath Barman, Veterinary Surgeon for Rangpur Dr Sabina Begum, Sadar Upazila Livestock officer Sarwar Rahman, addressed as special guests.
The poultry bird farm owners, entrepreneurs and commoners from all over the district took part in the daylong workshop.
They were provided practical knowledge about rearing and feeding of poultry birds, combating diseases, vaccination, caring eggs during breeding of chicks, marketing of poultry products.
Dr Jitendra Nath Barman said poultry sector would bring bright future for hundreds of people to contribute a lot to the national economy if necessary assistance were provided to the rural people toward the direction.
The chief guest appreciated the poultry farm owners and farmers in achieving tremendous success to alleviate poverty and achieve self-reliance side by side with meeting nutritional demand of the growing population.
He also assured the poultry farm owners and farmers providing easy-term loans to flourish the poultry sector in Rangpur region.
