Tk 33cr dev project opens in Rangpur

Carpeting work of two roads and construction of a drainage system were inaugurated in Babu Khan Abur Mour, Shanti Para and Burirhat areas in the city Sunday afternoon.
Mayor of Rangpur City Corporation (RCC) Alhaj Sarfuddin Ahmed Jhantu inaugurated the infrastructural development works by unveiling plaque at a ceremony at the local Babu Khan Abur Mour area as chief guest.
City Councilors Shahjalal Karim Bakul and Fazlul Haque, Female City Councilor from reserved wards Jafrin Islam Ripa, Executive Engineer of RCC Azam Ali, its Assistant Engineer Radib-Al-Hassan, attended the ceremony, among others.
The city corporation is implementing the road carpeting works under the phase-wise construction packages of 142 separate roads, drains, culverts, drainage systems and other works under 142 groups from its own resources.
The total projects costs Tk 33 crore.
Construction work of the drainage system from Babu Khan Abur Mour to Ghorapeer Mazar is being implemented at Tk 5 crore under the City Governance Project with the Government of Bangladesh and Japan International Cooperation Agency funding.
The Local Government and Engineering Department has been extending assistance to the RCC authority in implementing construction work of the drainage system as the main Executing Agency.
The City Mayor in his speech said that carpeting work of the two roads and construction work of the drainage system are being implemented in the city as part of massive infrastructural development works.
He also ordered for timely completion of the infrastructural development works ensuring quality works with transparency and cautioned for taking stern actions if any irregularities were found in the implementation process.
The City Mayor sought continuous cooperation of the citizens inturning Rangpur into a modern, eco-friendly, beautiful and traffic jam-free city with eye-catching looks ensuring adequate infrastructures, civic services, facilities and amenities. — BSS
