Iran keen to support BD’s energy sector

Iran has expressed its willingness to support Bangladesh’s energy sector establishing fuel refinery plant and exporting liquefied natural gas (LNG) and compressed natural gas (CNG) under government to government deals.
Iran is also keen to support Bangladesh in installing power plants and procuring equipments for power plants, State Minister for Power, Energy and Mineral Resources Nasrul Hamid told the reporters at his secretariat office.
“The Iranian envoy Dr. Abbas Vaezi Dehnavi proposed us that they are interested to supply oil-installing fuel refinery,” Hamid told the reports following the meeting with the Iranian envoy in Dhaka.
The State Minister said that Dr. Abbas also expressed his country’s interests to take part in installing power plant and supply LNG and CNG as per Bangladesh’s requirement.
DR. Abbas has invited the State Minister for power, Energy and Mineral Resources to visit Iran and take necessary measures to introduce experts visiting programme in this regard.
“The most lucrative part of the meeting is the Iranian envoy assured us that they will spend their profit (what they would be able to earn through exporting oil from Bangladesh) in Bangladesh in different manner”, however, the state minister did not elaborate the issue.
During the meeting the State Minister urged the Iranian envoy to import Jute and Jute products, medicine and readymade garments from Bangladesh.
