The government is planning to create 517 posts soon including that of Group Captain, Wing Commander, Squadron Leader, Flight Lieutenant, Master Warrant Officer, Senior Warrant Officer, and Warrant Officer for operating five radar units with a view to strengthening Bangladesh Air Force (BAF). Of the 517 posts, 360 posts are for four ATS Radar Units and 157 posts for Cox’s Bazar Radar Unit of the BAF, sources at the defence ministry and the BAF Headquarters said.
The secretary committee on administrative improvement affairs on Sunday recommended creating the posts at its meeting, held at the secretariat with Cabinet Secretary M Musharraf Hossain Bhuiyan in the chair.
Senior Secretary to the Defence Ministry Kazi Habibul Awal, in his proposal, said the Air Force authorities have already installed Precision Approach Radars and Airport Surveillance Radars at different air bases under the ATC Radar Squadron on an ad-hoc basis.
“In absence of an organogram for the ATS Radar Squadron Units, the usage of necessary equipment and technical assistance was not ensured by the authorities concerned,” the proposal said.
“Expenditure for the posts would be allocated from the budgetary allocation of the Air Force and the recruitment process will be completed by the 2016-17 fiscal year,” the proposal added.
Talking to this correspondent, Director of the Directorate of Air Intelligence (DAI) Air Commodore M Abul Bashar said the manpower, once recruited, will help operate the rudder squadron units smoothly.
According to the proposal of four ATS Radar Units, 360 posts including one post of Wing Commander, eight posts of Squadron Leader, 10 posts of Flight Lieutenant, three posts of Master Warrant Officer, five posts of Senior Warrant Officer, 11 posts Warrant Officer, 27 of posts Sergeant, and other civilian posts in different categories have been included in the organogram of the ATS Radar Units.
The proposal says, 157 posts including one of Group Captain, three of Wing Commander, nine of Squadron Leader, seven of Flight Lieutenant, five of Master Warrant Officer, six of Senior Warrant Officer, 18 of Warrant Officer, 82 of Sergeant and other posts have been included in the organogram of the Cox’s Bazar Radar Unit of the Air Force.
