12,000 palm trees planted in Natore

Sadar upazila administration planted 12,000 palm trees both the sides of 36 km highway and local roads in seven unions of the upazila on Thursday at the directive of the Prime Minister to avert deaths occurring from lightning strikes, reports BSS.

Students of different educational institutions participated the plantation programme from their respective areas.

Deputy Commissioner Sahina Khatun inaugurated the programme at Collectorate Building premises Thursday morning at a simple function.

Additional deputy commissioners Dr Chitralekha Najnin and M Muniruzzaman Miah, deputy director of Department of Agriculture Extension (DAE) M Rafikul Islam, upazila nirbahi officer (UNO) Jasmin Akhter and agriculture officer M Mehedul Islam were present, among others.
